H. F. Speirs

I am a freelance journalist, poet, theatre-maker and visual artist raised Hertfordshire but now braving my birthplace, London.

I have written news, features, interviews and reviews for The Telegraph, The Stage, The Cold Magazine, Time Out, The Reviews Hub, London Pub Theatre’s Magazine and Era Journal.

I graduated MA Magazine Journalism at City, University of London in September 2026 specialising in data driven research, arts and culture journalism and humanitarian reporting.

Two years before, I graduated University College London (UCL) in English Literature, serving as President and Chair of Poetry of UCL Writers Society between 2022 – 2024, alongside Theatre Editor at Era Journal for over a year. .

In 2022, I founded The Wistful Company, innovating with physical theatre and spoken word to make poetry more accessible to younger audiences. Wistful: An Experimental Revival of Poetry on Stage was performed at the Edinburgh Fringe 2022 and Sky-scraping in 2025. Currently we are working on new shows to perform around the United Kingdom.

My own poetry has been published in GTFO Mag, Dusk Magazine, Twisted Ink, Era Journal and UCL’s very own Writer’s Block.
